About ‘Breathe’
In a departure from the upbeat electro-pop style that fans may be accustomed to, Fortnight in Florida introduce us to their more sensitive side with this downtempo and melancholic ballad, addressing deeply personal themes of loss and mourning. Multi-layered guitars, vocals and percussion build throughout the verses before culminating in a chorus of anthemic proportions. For the first time, we hear Andrew trailblaze his way from beats to bars with a deft turn on the glockenspiel, an event so special that an entire recording session was devoted to it at AIR studios London, completely detached from the main recording session at Rockfield.
“Breathe is a story about learning to accept the loss of someone close to you, in the hope that you can meet up in the dream world, free of any pain and suffering. The notion that as long as you harness the love for that person and never forget them, they live on forever inside you.” - Simon Middleton
The single was recorded at the renowned Rockfield recording studios in Monmouth, Wales. The studio has a rich recording history and has hosted recording sessions for many iconic artists, including Queen, Oasis, Stone Roses, and Coldplay.
Laurence 'Loz' Anslow, who has worked with artists such as Paul McCartney, Mumford & Sons, Muse, and Coldplay, produced, engineered, and mixed the single.
